Mira Olas Pavones
Secluded Cabins above the Pavones Surf Break at the Edge of the Jungle
Pavones is a small remote fishing village at the southwestern
tip of Costa Rica on the Pacific coast. It is famous among surfers for its long
left breaking wave. Miles of deserted beaches backed by virgin rain forest make
Pavones an attractive destination for surfers and eco-travellers alike.
Mira Olas offers comfortable cabins with private bath (some
with kitchen), set in a tropical orchard backed by jungle. It is only a five to ten minute walk to the surf, stores and restaurants of Pavones. Enjoy panoramic
views of the surf break and Golfo Dulce from the hill above your cabin.
Excellent bird and monkey watching from the hammock on your
porch. A large variety of birds, among them toucans and scarlet macaws, as well
as three species of monkeys are regularly seen on Mira Olas 11 acres. A short
trail takes you down into the narrow valley of the Rio Claro. The crystal clear
river forms large, deep pools inviting you to dive in - a great way to cool off
during the hottest part of the day! Watch the agile squirrel monkeys cross the
river in the canopy above or you can float down river, out of the canyon to the
surf break.
Your host Lili Romano has been living in Pavones for almost twenty years. Lili speaks English, Spanish and German and will gladly help to make your stay at Mira Olas the high point of your vacation.
